"either"-"or" thinking is the most common cognitive error of our race and should be avoided until circumstances force it upon us. even then it should be distrusted and held at arm's length, not embraced as a friend, but accepted as an unavoidable relative.
Very well said. I called this "two-ish" thinking before I learned words like binary or dichotomy. Almost all dichotomies are false, and almost all binary switches are avoidable. Two-ish thinking usually reflects a lack of creativity, imagination, or perspective.
